From John’s Desk…
There was a time in my life when I wouldn’t even think about taking a day off. I would work and work, sometimes even sleep at my shop, thinking the more I worked the faster I would get to…wherever it was I was going.
Day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, I worked the same long hours…feeling virtuous – almost noble – about all the effort I was putting into my success. Surely, I would think, I must be in the fast lane on the highway to happiness.
Then, as happens to us all at one time or another, I began questioning my life strategy. If ultimate happiness is waiting for me just a short distance ahead, then why can’t I at least feel some of it the closer I get? Or, the closer I thought I was getting.
The simple truth is I had mistakenly defined happiness to myself as a bank account…as if the money I deposited was magically transforming into happiness credits. Money can be converted, but the years of my life spent working for the future and forgetting about the present are gone forever. No trade-ins, no reimbursement, no do-overs.
How To Measure Success
Success is different things to different people, and I have achieved my fair share. But I now have a chance to positively impact the lives of countless people on a daily basis with K12Print. The satisfaction I have already begun to experience and the ultimate success I know is in front of me, is something I can enjoy today, tomorrow and for the rest of my life.
Don’t charge through life with blinders on reaching for an invisible reward. Find fulfillment today, tomorrow is on the way.
Until next time…
